Two Poems

Put Your Arms Around Me, Abuelita.

Your foam is like a snuggle nest

for my lips to rest

when I feel stressed

In a late december posada

or in a cold, cold night

a clay cup of your winter lullaby

really makes me feel alright

Put your arms around me, abuelita

cause I’ve been working like a dog

ain’t no need for sugar ni canelita

baby this is real love.

Hot Chocolate Splendor

Give me your tired, your pour

Your boiling milk yearning to breathe free

The warm loving taste of your frothy shore.

Send these sweet chocolate tablets to me

I’ll hold the molinillo beside the cooking pot!
